BARBARA BARSKI-CARROW, Ph.D.
“Building a Better Workplace”
Dr. Barski-Carrow’s work focuses on relationships in the workplace. She brings to this issue more than 30 years of experience in a variety of management, administrative and technical positions in the government, public and private sectors. Her research, presentations, workshops, conference, and publications of popular and professional articles have earned her international acclaim. She has been featured in a Wall Street Journal article relating to workplace issues.
Dr. Barski-Carrow is the author of When Trauma Survivors Return to Work—Understanding Emotional Recovery, a second edition recently published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book explains how managers, co-workers and the community can support the emotional recovery of employees who have been traumatized and are returning to work.
As Acting Director of the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity, (EEO) Office of the Secretary, of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Washington, DC, she has created, designed and implemented the award-winning Sexual Harassment Program training over 1,200 employees in the headquarters and regional offices.
Her credentials include a Ph.D. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in Adult Education & Human Resource Development, an M.A. from Georgetown University (Liberal Studies) in Organizational Behavior & Management and an undergraduate degree from Wilkes University.
She has served on the faculty of Northern Va. Community College, and Mt. Vernon College in Washington, D.C. She has been a consultant with The Women’s Center, Vienna, Virginia, U.S. Department of Defense & the William Wendt Center for Loss and Healing, Washington, D.C. She is a member of the Cancer Consortium of Delaware and the Fund for Women of the Delaware Community.
